Learning Design Coaches: One-on-One Time with Students

In this video, Learning Design Coach (LDC) Kendal Schwarz describes a specific opportunity that WW Academy Design Fellows now teacher candidates have had to work with students one-on-one. By having a smaller class size during a special “What I Need” period, candidates have been able to focus on coaching individual students. They have also had the opportunity to interview and get feedback from students, broadening their ability to learn about and hone their own teaching practice.

Each teacher candidate at the WW Academy is paired with an experienced educator—the LDCs—in one of the partner school districts or out-of-school-time learning spaces. This clinical placement gives candidates carefully supervised but very real opportunities to practice what they are learning during their program work.
